Justice Defenders is a global non-profit currently working in Kenya, Uganda & The Gambia with ambitions for scale. We have been registered as a UK charity and in the USA as a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt public charity. Founded in 2007, we work across Africa with incarcerated people and prison officers building a movement of defenders from all walks of life working to provide legal education, training, and practice within defenceless communities. Our work helps the humans within the criminal justice system flourish. And this increased capacity promotes more equitable, just, and peaceful societies, in keeping with the UN’s 2030 SDG 16.
