Summary

Description

HBCUvc’s mission is to foster the development of inclusive innovation economies, by increasing the number of Black and Latinx venture capital leaders in communities where entrepreneurs face barriers in accessing investment capital. The organization hosts a venture capital fellowship program for students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic-serving institutions (HSIs) and operates a venture capital clinic that leverages the training and Fellows to support local entrepreneurs. By increasing the number of Black and Latinx decision-makers in venture capital, more entrepreneurs of color will be funded, ultimately creating job and wealth opportunities for communities of color.

Hadiyah Mujhid is the Founder & CEO of HBCUvc. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Hadiyah received an MBA from Drexel University and a BS in Computer Science from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, a historically black university. Hadiyah is a strong advocate for leveraging technology and entrepreneurship to address economic inequality and has over 15 years of software engineering experience. Her work has been recognized in Forbes, Blavity, TechCrunch, Business Insider, Black Enterprise, and Handelsblatt.
